Multi-Medix Founder Featured by DOTmed
Multi-Medix founder, Stephen Hodgson has been featured in an interview with global healthcare technology platform DOTmed as part of its Five Minutes in Healthcare series, which highlights influential leaders and innovations across the healthcare sector.
In the interview, Stephen discusses the growing challenge of ultrasound quality assurance as handheld and point-of-care ultrasound devices become increasingly common across healthcare services worldwide.
The feature focuses on Multi-Medix’s mission to make ultrasound QA more accessible, practical and affordable through a cloud-based approach using the MM-1010 phantom, MULTI-Mode™ and the Multi-Medix app.
As highlighted by DOTmed, the aim is to help “democratise ultrasound testing worldwide” by making QA faster, simpler and more accessible to clinical teams. Through a subscription-based model, organisations can introduce structured ultrasound QA from as little as £10/$10 per month for handheld ultrasound users.
The interview explores how this approach could help remove many of the traditional barriers associated with ultrasound QA, including:
- Cost
- Complexity
- Lack of specialist support
- Limited access to testing equipment
- Difficulties maintaining consistent records and governance
The discussion also highlights the increasing importance of governance as ultrasound continues to move beyond traditional imaging departments into emergency medicine, community services, primary care, critical care and other point-of-care settings.
Current international guidance recognises that handheld and portable ultrasound systems require structured governance, including regular QA checks, equipment oversight and maintenance processes.
At Multi-Medix, we believe ultrasound QA should be practical enough to become part of routine clinical practice — helping teams monitor equipment performance, support compliance and strengthen patient safety.
We would like to thank DOTmed for the opportunity to discuss the future of ultrasound QA and the ongoing work being carried out by Multi-Medix.
